How to Unlock the Hidden Key Blade

Volvo's key fobs have made a huge leap in recent years. They are more than a simple remote to lock and start your vehicle. They can also open and close the windows and provide a boost if needed. To unlock the full potential of your key fob first, you'll have to learn how to use it.

Your key fob contains transponder chips that are programmed to your Volvo. When you insert the key fob into the ignition barrel a transponder chip reads the code and compares it to the one that is stored in the start inhibitor module of your vehicle. If the codes aren't compatible and your car doesn't start, it won't. This is an important security measure to prevent your Volvo from being started if a wrong key is used.

If you lose your keys, you will need to bring it to a dealership to get it replaced and your car programmed. This process can last up to 10 working days and cost a lot of cash. You can save money by programming your own computer. You will find all the info you require in the owner's manual, or on the internet. First, remove the non-logo and logo covers from your key fob and lay it on a clean, flat surface. Press the grey button on the upper right corner of your fob. The cover will be opened to reveal the CR2032 battery.
